Tradie websites that work with one hand and a cracked screen.

Your customers search on a phone, often standing next to the problem. The site has to load on mobile data, say what you fix, show that you cover their suburb, and put the call button where their thumb is.

What matters

Phone first, everything else second

Most trade enquiries are calls. The site's job is to get someone to dial with enough confidence that they do not ring the next three businesses as well.

  • Tap-to-call in the header and after every service block. A phone number typed as an image cannot be tapped, and a surprising number of trade sites still do it.
  • A page per service. Hot water systems, blocked drains, switchboard upgrades, leak detection, emergency call-outs. People search the job, not the trade.
  • Your licence number displayed. NSW requires licensed trade work to be advertised with the contractor licence number, and it doubles as a trust signal.
  • Service areas in plain text, including how far you travel and any call-out fee.
  • Photos of your own work. A clean install shot on a phone beats any stock photo, and customers can tell the difference instantly.
  • A short quote form for after hours, so the 10pm searcher does not vanish.

Emergency work

If you take emergency call-outs, that is a page of its own and probably the most valuable one you have. State the hours, the response expectation you can actually meet, the areas covered and the call-out fee. Vague “24/7” claims you cannot honour cost more in bad reviews than they earn in calls.

Being found

For most tradies, Google Business Profile plus a handful of genuinely useful service pages beats any amount of clever marketing. The site supports the profile: matching business details, real service descriptions, and pages that answer the questions people ask before booking. More on the SEO page.

Common questions

I get all my work by word of mouth. Do I need a site?

Referrals still check you online before calling. The site is what they find when someone gives them your name — and the difference between looking established and looking like you might have stopped trading.

Should I list prices?

Call-out fees and typical ranges for common jobs, where you can. It cuts the enquiries that were never going to book and makes the quote conversation shorter.

What if I work solo?

Say so. Being the person who turns up is an advantage against companies who send whoever is free. Write the about page in first person and use your own photo.

How many suburbs should I list?

The ones you actually drive to. List them in text on a service area page, and only build a dedicated page for an area where you can say something specific about the work you do there.
